Xiaomi POCO M4 Pro Detailed Descriptions:
Design.
Like the Poco M4 Pro 5G, the Poco M4 Pro makes a pretty good impression of a flagship phone. With its shiny, two-tone back and oversized camera bump, the Poco M4 Pro 5G offers more flamboyance in terms of its design than a lot of other handsets at this price range. The measurements you need to know about are 159.9 x 73.9 x 8.1 mm (6.30 x 2.91 x 0.32 in) – dimensions largely dictated by the 6.43-inch screen – and the phone tips the scales at 179.5 g. It feels pleasingly light, and isn’t going to significantly weigh down your pocket or your bag. It is all plastic with a glass front (Gorilla Glass 3).
Display.
The display used on the Poco M4 Pro is slightly smaller at 6.4-inch compared to its 5G version, but it’s by no means small, and it packs the same 2400 x 1800 Full HD+ resolution. The screen has a 90Hz refresh rate, though it defaults to 60Hz. You also get a 180Hz tough sampling rate, which means it’s nice and responsive for fast-paced action games. The main talking point here is the switch to AMOLED panel technology – the first of its kind to appear in Poco’s M-series, no less. This makes the Poco M4 Pro screen infinitely more vibrant than the Poco M3 Pro 128GB, with greater dynamic range, deeper blacks, and purer whites.
Camera.
The Poco M4 Pro features a triple-camera system led by a 64-MP sensor, which is the first of its type to make an appearance in the series. By default, the camera takes 16Mp shots using 4-in–1 pixel binning, but you can opt to go all-in with 64 Mp shots if you so wish. color reproduction and contrast is good, brightness is well balanced (even with HDR enabled), and images are snapped in an instant. If you’re wanting some eye-catching pictures for social media, this phone can do the job.
Image quality is pretty decent, at least when fed with plenty of light, however, when you inspect the photos taken by the phone more closely, finer details become fuzzy, with colors occasionally washed out. At lower light levels, there’s a substantial amount of noise, although the built-in night mode can make a difference. The 16MP front camera is capable of capturing some nice sharp selfies, but you’ll want to turn off the skin smoothing tool that’s annoyingly active by default.
Performance and Software.
the Poco M4 Pro runs on the MediaTek Helio G96 and Android 11, MIUI 13 for POCO. This chipset is built using an older and less efficient 12nm process, and it’s the same processor that runs the Redmi Note 11S 128GB. The M4 Pro’s SoC seems to have a much faster CPU than its 5G brother, though, with an average Geekbench 5 multi-core score of 1836 comparing very favorably to the 5G’s score of 1582. This model is the 8GB + 256GB but the POCO M4 Pro 6GB 128GB is also available at an affordable Price.
Battery.
The Poco M4 Pro is powered by a 5000mAh battery. That’s nice and large, but also pretty normal for recent phones. As with other budget contenders, it’s good for a full day of heavy usage and potentially a full two days of light to moderate usage. In battery consumption, the AMOLED display here is making a difference but it still falls well behind the likes of the Redmi Note 11, however. Charging speed is similar to that of POCO M4 Pro 5G. It entails Fast charging of 33W, 100% in 58 min (advertised), Power Delivery 3.0 and Quick Charge 3+.
