Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 128GB/256GB/512GB
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 price in Kenya is Ksh. 22,500. It is a 4G midrange phone that weighs 196.5 grams and measures 163.3 x 76.6 x 8.2 mm (6.43 x 3.02 x 0.32 in) in dimensions. Note 14 is made with a glass front which comprises a gorilla glass 5, a plastic back, and plastic frames. It is designed to withstand splash and dust at IP54.
The handset uses a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel, the same size as the rest of the Notes as it combines UFS 2.2 flash storage and LPDDR5 RAM with MediaTek’s Dimensity 7050 for smooth performance. The Redmi Note 14 Pro and Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus jump to a faster UFS 3.1 flash storage, which works with Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 and Dimensity 8020 chipsets, respectively.

Redmi Note 14 Detailed Description:
Design
The Note 14 is a well-designed handset with flat panels and a flat frame. It looks a lot similar to the Redmi Note 13 but with a small twist and a different camera-frame shape. The Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus model is the only one without a huge camera housing. Its glossy glass back is almost undisturbed, excluding the two small camera rings we saw in the Note 12. The front is protected with a Gorilla Glass 3 sheet, which is shatter-proof and more scratch-resistant. The back, as we established, is made of layered plastic, and finally – the flat plastic frame has a matte finish. The Redmi Note 14 has IP54-rated dust and splash protection. It is an improvement on the previous IP53 rating and means the phone is protected against dust and pressurized 360-degree splashes. We have the Midnight Black version of the Note 14, but it is also available in Mint Green, Ince Blue, and Ocean Sunset. The latter has this marble-like subtle texture.
Display
The Redmi Note 14 packs a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel of extended 1080p resolution (395ppi). The display supports a wide color gamut, 120Hz refresh rate, and 960Hz PWM dimming. There is also a Gorilla Glass 3 protection. According to the official specifications, the screen has up to 1,800 nits of peak brightness, which records 492-nits of maximum brightness when controlling the brightness slider manually.
When using the Auto Brightness mode of the Redmi 14 or with the Sunlight Boost enabled, the screen can be much brighter – up to 1,313 nits, to be specific. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR video. Widevine DRM is level L2, which means you can stream in 1080p resolution.
Camera
The Redmi Note 14 5G has a 108MP main camera. It is based on the Samsung S5KHM6 sensor, which is commonly known as the HM6. It is a fairly popular sensor used in many devices like the Xiaomi 14T Pro and the Realme 13 generations. It just has PDAF, no OIS or anything fancy like that. It is complemented by an 12MP OmniVision ov08d10 ultrawide camera and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the Redmi Note 14 has a 16MP snapper. It is either based on the GalaxyCore gc16b3 or the OmniVision ov16a1q. Both are listed as possibilities in the config files. It is just a simple fixed-focus unit, nothing fancy yet again.
Redmi Note 14 Camera Features:
- Wide (main): 108MP Samsung ISOCELL (S5K)HM6 , 1/1.67″, 0.64µm, f/1.7, 24mm, PDAF; 1080p@30fps
- Ultrawide: 8MP, OmniVision ov08d10, 1/4.4″, 1.0µm, f/2.2, 16mm, fixed focus; 1080p@30fps
- Depth: 2MP SmartSens sc202cs, 1/5.1″, 1.75µm, f/2.4, fixed focus; 1080p@30fps
- Front camera: 16MP, 1/3″, 1.0µm, f/2.4, 24mm, PDAF; 1080p@30fps
Performance
The Redmi Note 14 is a midrange phone, not a particularly powerful one. It is based on the MediaTek’s Dimensity 7050 chipset. This means it can run regular online activities and most of the common games without an issue. The CPU has a total of eight cores to work with – four Cortex-A80 ones clocked at up to 3.1 GHz and another four Cortex-A58 cores working at up to 2.1 GHz. The Redmi Note 14 runs MIUI 14 on top of Android 14. All Redmi Note 14 models will get an update to HyperOS later on. The Redmi also promises at least 3 years of Android update.
Battery Life and Charging
The battery on this phone is a 5000mAh capacity. It has the same size as the rest of the Note 14 models, plus its chipset should offer good energy efficiency. The Redmi 14 5G scored 9 hours and 49 minutes of Active Use Time. And while it can last over 34 hours in call, it scores about 9 hours of web, 10 hours of videos and less than 6 hours on gaming – all quite unimpressive battery times. The Redmi Note 14 supports 35W fast charging and comes with a 35W power adapter and a USB cable. The charger refills 29% of the depleted battery in 15 minutes, 51% in 30 minutes, and a full charge takes 72 minutes. Note that these new Note 14 models have this Charging Boost option in the advanced battery settings.
Connectivity
Note 14 offers dual SIM simultaneous 5G connectivity. Just be sure to get the 5G model instead of the 4G one, which is a similar but entirely different device. On connectivity, you get two nano-SIM card slots with SA/NSA 5G connectivity. Unfortunately, the SIM tray on the phone is a hybrid affair. You have to choose between a second SIM card or a microSD card for expandable storage. There appears to be no e-SIM support.
