Detailed Product Description:
Design
The Fitbit Charge 6 and its predecessor, the Charge 5, both have the same 1.04-inch color AMOLED display. It does, however, bring a noteworthy physical improvement: a haptic home button. When it comes to returning to the home screen, this button is more user-friendly than the Charge 5’s touch-sensitive region. Even though we haven’t tested the previous model, we prefer this upgrade because of the physical control capability.
Google, the current owner of Fitbit, offers the Charge 6 in three color options in Australia: Porcelain/Silver Aluminum, Coral/Champagne Gold Aluminum, and Obsidian/Black Aluminum. We have the Obsidian/Black Aluminum variant forsale.
Performance
The free Fitbit app for iOS or Android is necessary for the Fitbit Charge 6, just like it is for other Fitbit devices. This model, though, is more intricately linked into the Google ecosystem. It offers Google-specific features in addition to common features like stress tracking, heart rate monitoring, fitness tracking, and ECG. For example, you can get turn-by-turn navigation right on your wrist when you pair it with Google Maps. Furthermore, it is integrated with YouTube Music, giving you control over playback. Nevertheless, you have to have a subscription to YouTube Music in order to control the music.
The Charge 6 offers more payment options than just Fitbit Pay by supporting contactless transactions via Google Pay. Given that not many Kenyan financial institutions support Google Pay, this integration is not that important at the moment. Before making a purchase, make sure your bank accepts Google Pay or Fitbit Pay if contactless payments are important to you.
Beyond Google features, the Charge 6 offers a simple interface with swipeable tiles for notifications, exercise, alarms, and other functions. Exercise tracking is generally well-handled, but the vertical screen can make scrolling through exercise options a bit cumbersome. The device also includes automatic workout detection, which can be helpful but may occasionally misidentify activities.
The Charge 6 offers basic metrics for tracking sleep, but a subscription is needed for advanced features like a daily readiness score or a thorough sleep analysis. In comparison to larger smartwatches, the Charge 6 is more comfortable to wear during sleep due to its smaller and lighter design, even though its sleep tracking isn’t that perfect.
The Charge 6 has customizable notifications that let you turn on or off alerts for particular apps. But you can only interact with notifications so much because you can only see them on your phone. You can’t send quick text replies from the Charge 6 to an iPhone, but you can do it with an Android phone.
Battery
Although Google doesn’t say how long the Fitbit Charge 6’s battery will last, it does say that it can last “up to seven days.” The device stores power for 7-8 days before needing to recharge. Use of the always-on display and SpO2 features will require more frequent charging. Fitbit recommends charging your tracker daily to ensure you are constantly tracking.
