Design.

Measuring 6.1 by 2.9 by 0.3 inches (HWD), the Pixel 5a is the same size as the Google Pixel 4a 5G but also identical to the more expensive Pixel 5. It also manages to pack in a larger display compared to Pixel 4a. At 183gms, it’s on the heavier side, but its weight is well distributed.

Display.

Google Pixel 5a 5G has a 6.34-inch OLED display with a hole punch dominating the front of the phone. Its resolution is 2,400 by 1,080 pixels with a 413ppi density. Color accuracy is a selling point together with the excellent contrast ratio and deep, inky blacks. The viewing angles are also excellent.

Camera.

In good light, ultra-wide shots are well composed with natural color and excellent depth of field; neither the Pixel 4a 5G nor the Pixel 5 comes closer to the shots of Pixel 5a 5G. Although the shots are classic, there’s some minor loss of fine detail, but you’ll be hard pressed to notice it unless you view images at extended screen size.

Performance.

The Pixel 5a comes loaded with Android 11, but will soon be updated to Android 12 (currently in beta testing). Google stuck to the same midrange chip that came on the Pixel 5. The Snapdragon 765G is built on the 7nm process and is a solid choice for a balance between performance and efficiency. The performance from Video calling, Playing musing, swiping through the common Apps such as WhatsApp, Tweeter, Instagram, Facebook and others is outstandingly smooth and you will enjoy it, even when using with Google Pixel Watch.

Battery and Charging.

At 4,685mAh, slightly above the Pixel 6, the Pixel 5a’s battery is one of the most reliable from Google. It is small compared to Google Pixel 6 Pro, NOKIA G21, REDMI 10 POWER and REDMI 10 5G.  It manages to hold out for 12 hours and 9 minutes before shutting down. But with more conservative use, you could likely skip a day between charges. The box also includes an 18W charger for fast charging. Sorry you are not getting wireless charging here though.
